del.icio.us
Oh, del.icio.us, I cannot get enough of it and I want to feed it to everyone else. It’s fitting that my inaugural post here on technolution is on del.cio.us because this is one tool about which I am evangelical. I annoy my co-workers,* and co-cteps, and friends etc. with my endless endorsements for this wonderful, wonderful tool. When it comes to del.icio.us, I am downright pushy. I know this and yet I am not ashamed, it is just that useful.
So what is it? I’ll defer to the wikipedia post on del.icio.us: “The website del.icio.us (pronounced as “delicious”) is a social bookmarking web service for storing, sharing, and discovering web bookmarks.” Check out the wikipedia entry, if only for the link to the page on folksonomy, which is my new favorite word. So basicallly, del.icio.us is a tool that allows you to take your bookmarks on the road, you can access them from any computer that’s online instead of having your links marooned on (one of your) computer(s). But really, it is so much more.
Here, watch this video:
Here’s the post at Common Craft, which includes links to a transcript of the video as well as international versions subtitled in 22 languages on .
Common Craft ,btw, is a great resource for easy to understand, “plain english,” videos explaining web phenomena and tools.
You’ll also notice that I’ve set up an rss feed to display the 5 most recent links I’ve posted to my del.icio.us account. Check them out, I’ll post many more resources there than I’ll have time to write entries here. And if you decide to sign up for del.icio.us, let me know, and we can share links.
* You can credit the leadership skills of Erika Backberg for taking my rant/ demonstration of social bookmarking at a department meeting and suggesting I channel my enthusiasm into a blog, this blog, which you are now reading.
